Tell Congress to protect state welfare laws for farmed animals

In May, the Supreme Court upheld states' rights to implement welfare requirements for animal products sold within the state. Now, pro-industry members of Congress are retaliating by trying to BAN this right at the federal level.

The Ending Agricultural Trade Suppression (EATS) Act would WIPE OUT existing state laws requiring welfare standards for meat and eggs sales and prohibit states from implementing future farmed animal welfare regulations. This dangerous bill is a direct attempt to eviscerate citizen power and commandeer states' rights to protect welfare and public health.

But that's not all. Because the bill bans interstate regulations on virtually all agriculture products, it would also erase over 1,000 state laws concerning pet food, farmed and wild animal disease prevention, pest and invasive species control, cigarette safety requirements, food safety, narcotics, and more.

If we don't fight back, the EATS Act could circumvent years of policy progress and perpetuate suffering for millions of chickens, pigs, and cows. We need all hands on deck to tell Congress that farmed animal welfare laws are here to stay.
