Ending factory farming. Ending animal cruelty.
Tuna swimming in a net pen,

How you can help

Sign this petition

As tuna farming expands, increasing numbers of wild Atlantic bluefin tuna are being captured from the ocean to supply the industry – a practice that has already pushed the species to the brink of collapse.

Atlantic bluefin tuna are wild, migratory animals that are fundamentally unsuited to life in captivity. There is no humane way to farm them. Tuna farming also depends on catching vast quantities of other wild fish for feed, placing further pressure on already stressed marine ecosystems and the coastal communities that depend on them.

The expansion of tuna farming is a warning sign of a much wider problem. As farming expands to other carnivorous species such as octopus, we risk accelerating biodiversity loss and further exploiting wild animals and oceans that are already under strain.

This is why we are calling on world leaders to keep their commitments to halt biodiversity loss by 2030 by introducing an immediate moratorium on tuna farms.

Governments must act now

Governments have pledged to halt biodiversity loss by 2030, but current policies fail to address the growing harm caused by the expansion of carnivorous aquaculture.
By acting now, governments can protect marine biodiversity, keep aquatic animals in the wild and prevent further exploitation of our oceans.
We call on governments to:

  • Stop overfishing for feed by limiting wild fish use, protecting marine food webs and improving supply chain transparency.
  • Block new farms for carnivorous species such as tuna and octopus, which depend on other fish for feed.
  • End harmful subsidies and redirect funding towards more sustainable and regenerative options, including bivalves such as mussels or oysters and seaweed farming.
  • Ensure global trade rules protect marine life, including considering a CITES listing for Atlantic bluefin tuna.

STOP TUNA FARMING: KEEP THEM WILD

Your voice can help stop this harmful model of farming from spreading further.

Sign the petition and call on world leaders to honor their commitment to halt biodiversity loss and Keep Them Wild.
